FBA is seeking to work with graziers in the Fitzroy who may have King Blue Grass on their property.
This is an opportunity to access financial and technical support for practical, on-ground improvements that can strengthen your property’s productivity and land condition, while also improving an important ecological community.
King Blue Grass can play an important role in productive grazing systems, particularly when its condition is maintained through sound management. As a perennial native grass, it can contribute to groundcover, pasture stability and seasonal feed availability, while supporting overall land condition and the long-term productivity of the property.
If you are a grazier in the Fitzroy region and have King Blue Grass on your property, or think you may, FBA encourages you to start a conversation with us here.
King Blue Grass is frequently found in areas including Springsure, Dysart and Clermont, with FBA encouraging land managers in these areas to explore how through grazing management, this grass community can be strengthened.

Backing practical improvements on the ground
FBA works alongside land managers to help put practical solutions in place that support both their business and land condition.
“We work with land managers to find practical approaches that support their operation while also improving the condition of King Blue Grass on the ground,” said Grace Wickson, FBA Land Management Officer.
Depending on the operation, these approaches could include (but are not limited to):
splitting paddocks
rotational grazing
wet season spelling
additional property infrastructure, such as water points and/or fences
“These improvements can make a real difference to property productivity and resilience, while also helping protect an important ecological community,” Grace said.
A practical, flexible approach
FBA understands every property is different. That’s why we’re focused on working collaboratively with land managers to identify practical improvements that suit their property and business goals.
