Make a difference at the ground level by getting involved in one of our community-inspired initiatives. We’re proud to lead a diverse range of programs that connect people with nature and inspire local action.
A passionate network of volunteers along the Capricorn and Curtis Coasts dedicates their time to protecting marine turtles through citizen science.
During turtle nesting and hatching season, volunteers walk local beaches to record vital data, tracking turtle nests and hatchling success while identifying threats like predators, 4WD activity and light pollution.
Backed by more than a decade of commitment from FBA, Team Turtle CQ has grown into a powerful conservation initiative. It’s more than data collection, it’s a living legacy of community partnership, environmental stewardship and shared purpose. Every footprint in the sand tells a story of care, collaboration and hope for the future of Queensland’s iconic marine turtles.
This heartfelt campaign works to reduce koala deaths on the Peak Downs Highway and across Central Queensland roads. Part of the $4.5 million Australian Government Saving Koalas Fund, the campaign raises awareness through eye-catching bumper stickers that encourage drivers to slow down and stay alert.
It’s one part of a broader effort to restore habitat, reduce bushfire risk and create safer wildlife corridors for our region’s koalas.
FBA Ignites is a hands-on initiative that connects high school students with natural resource management (NRM). Students take part in immersive experiences like soil testing, water quality audits and field visits with land managers, environmental experts and Indigenous rangers.
Across the Capricorn Coast, Rockhampton and Theodore, students have tackled real sustainability challenges while building practical skills and confidence. Guided by the ideas and energy of local youth, the program continues to evolve, fostering leadership, environmental stewardship and a deeper connection to Country.
