Make your 2023 a fun, successful and sustainable year!
Posted on December 30th, 2022
For some of us, New Years is a time to reset and look on the year ahead with fresh eyes, reflect on what we’d like to change and set big goals. Whether you’re a New Year’s Resolutions fan or not, 2023 presents an opportunity for each of us to consider the many small actions available to us every day, that make positive differences in our lives and for the planet.
Change is hard at the best of times, and becoming more sustainable can seem daunting. It’s important to remember ‘being sustainable’ means different things to everyone; the simplest place to start is with what’s achievable for you.
TIP 1: Follow your passions.
Consider what you enjoy and love, what you’re interested in, and what family and friends are excited about. They all help you keep going when you least feel like it!
TIP 2: Start small
Making small changes to anything in your life can still make a big contribution to sustainability because every little win keeps you heading in the right direction.
Shaping your sustainability journey according to your interests and lifestyle is the key to success.
There are many resources out there to help you on your journey. We highly recommend Rockhampton Regional Council’s Living Sustainably program, or Livingston Shire Council for tips, tricks, and ideas to help save you money, connect you with new activities and people, and ignite your passions throughout 2023.
You could also download the Central Queensland Sustainability Strategy Quick Guide to see how sustainable you are and where your actions make a positive difference.
For those of you who like to focus on events – try FBA’s tips and tricks for a Sustainable Christmas (or any celebration really).
And if saving the planet isn’t your focus for 2023, you might want to take a moment to reconsider if your New Year’s resolutions are about:
- Saving money
- Discovering new interests and hobbies
- Slowing down and reconnect with others or nature
- Opening to new ideas and opportunities
