Urban Agriculture and Sustainability Expo

Livingstone Shire Council is excited to announce the upcoming Urban Agriculture and Sustainability Expo, set to take place on November 12th at Tanby Garden Centre. This event promises to be a celebration of sustainable living, fostering a deep connection with our environment and protecting the biodiversity of the Shire that we all cherish.

Boasting participation from local businesses and a keynote speech from special guest speaker Morag Gamble, this gathering of like-minded individuals and groups who are passionate about sustainability and biodiversity is not to be missed. As well as your chance to win a $500 Tanby Gardens gift voucher, you’ll learn about Urban Agriculture, the Shire’s unique biodiversity and discover sustainable tips you can practice in your own backyard and neighbourhoods that can only strengthen our community’s resilience to our changing climate.

Attendees will also be able to watch an exclusive screening of Rachel’s Farm at Beaches Restaurant from 2:30pm, which chronicles Rachel Ward’s transformation from an actress to a regenerative farmer as she confronts environmental despair and finds hope in sustainable agriculture. The screening will occur at Beaches Restaurant the same day at 2:30pm – limited numbers apply. Click here to book your tickets.

The Urban Agriculture and Sustainability Expo promises a day filled with activities and information for the entire family. Topics include:

  • Composting, worm farming, and soil health.
  • Self-sufficient and healthy edible backyards and micro gardens.
  • Local biodiversity, including bees, wildlife, birds, and pollinators.
  • Companion planting and beneficial insects.
