Join us for an inspiring evening with Earthwatch Wetlands Program Manager, Jock Mackenzie, co-founder of MangroveWatch, as he shares the critical role of mangroves habitats for the future of the Great Barrier Reef.
This talk is part of the “Protecting Wetlands for the Future” program funded by the Great Barrier Reef Foundation. The program aims to empower teachers and community leaders to become Mangrove Champions and lead MangroveWatch citizen scieprograms across the Great Barrier Reef, increasing environmental stewardship and raising awareness of local mangrove values and threats.
Discover the fascinating world of mangroves and why they matter more than ever. Jock will reveal the incredible results of the local MangroveWatch program in the Barron River and Thomatis Creek, highlighting the power of citizen science and the importance of local Mangrove Champions in protecting our precious Great Barrier Reef.
