Join FBA at Mountain View, Springsure for a practical producer workshop exploring an algae supplementation trial under central Queensland grazing conditions.

Who you will hear from

Mountain View Grazing

David and Adele O’Connor

Adele and David O’Connor are experienced central Queensland beef producers who operate Mountain View near Springsure. They have a strong history of adopting and demonstrating improved grazing management practices, with a focus on productive, sustainable and resilient beef production.

Adele and David are currently hosting an algae supplementation trial on their property, providing an important commercial grazing environment to assess the supplement’s potential to improve cattle nutrition, liveweight gain and production efficiency.

Their involvement provides valuable producer-led insight, combining practical on-ground experience with emerging research. Through sharing their observations and experiences, Adele and David can help other producers understand how innovative nutritional strategies may contribute to improved herd performance, business outcomes and reduced emissions intensity.

Genesis Algae Innovation

Frank Mason

Frank Mason is the CEO of Genesis Algae Innovation and has more than 35 years’ experience in agriculture, agribusiness and natural resource management, including 26 years with the Queensland Government. He has an agricultural science background and has managed farms, agricultural projects and algae farm operations.

Frank has worked with Genesis since 2018 and has been closely involved in the development and trialling of algae-based stockfeed products, with a focus on improving animal nutrition, production efficiency and sustainable agricultural outcomes.

Northern Australia Climate Program (NACP)

Vicki Mayne

Vicki Mayne is a Climate Project Officer with UniSQ and Climate Mate with the Northern Australia Climate Program. She works with producers across Queensland to translate climate science and seasonal forecasting into practical on-farm decision-making.

As a beef producer herself, Vicki brings practical industry experience and a strong understanding of the challenges producers face when managing seasonal variability, climate risk and business resilience.
