FBA hosted two workshops at Springsure and Gogango with Dick Richardson - The Natural Grazier. Across both days, local land managers came together for a practical, on-property learning experience focused on strengthening grazing decision-making and understanding how natural grazing principles can be adapted to suit different properties, seasons and business goals.
The program combined informative sessions with plenty of discussion and an on-ground component, giving participants the chance to explore ideas, compare experiences and consider how small changes could be implemented back home.
FBA extends a sincere thank you to our generous hosts for opening their properties for the day: Jason and Rachel Lich (Manalee) and Ann and Bobby Kirk (Weir Park).
Work with what you’ve already got: Use your existing land, paddock layout and resources to guide practical grazing decisions that fit your operation.
No need for a full overhaul: Small, well-timed changes to grazing management can deliver real improvements in pasture condition and production over time.
Utilise feed strategically: Avoid “banking” pasture for too long. Aim to graze at the right stage, then allow adequate recovery so pastures stay productive and the system keeps moving.
"We've realised we are 'grass hoarders'... We have a lot of untapped potential on our country, to not only get it healthier, but to utilise the grass that we've got."
