24.7 & 24.8 Addendum 2 – Site visit postponed
The site visit for the Bindaree-Fitrzroy revegetation and irrigation tender at Garnant today has been postponed due to adverse weather. An updated site visit is being organised and will be advised as soon as possible.
In the meantime, when developing your tender documentation please adhere as closely to the scope of work and associated documentation as closely as possible as this will form the basis for the tender evaluation.
Sorry for the inconvenience, we will keep you informed to any changes as they arise.

24.7 Addendum 4 – Revegetation Clarifications
Q. There are a few things mentioned within the reveg documentation but then not listed within the BOQ. Are these to be completed by civil prior to handover? Topsoil installation and amelioration and any cultivation
A. Topsoil installation is all completed by the construction crew. However, as part of the BOQ maintenance there is ‘erosion control’ which in the event of small erosion post a rain event includes adding topsoil/rock/gravel, controlling source of erosion, adding straw bales and seed/fertiliser etc.
Q. Seeding/sowing – and if this portion is completed by civil is the performance of the seeding to be considered within the reveg performance criteria for establishment?
A. Seeding/sowing is also completed by civil. Any disturbed areas (from planting) should be reseeded (E.g. machinery/people tracks down the bank, bog marks, disturbed ground). The performance of the seeding strike will be the responsibility of the civil crew, however, once you (reveg crew) enter site, the improvement/decline of groundcover is your responsibility and with sprinkler irrigation 90-100% groundcover is expected soon after sowing.
Q. There is mention of potential site mulch but that it was unlikely to be available, is that the case?
A. Mulch is an extra so have it as an added cost (so it won’t affect your tender price). It is good for us to know, so if we have funds, we can add it. We have found that the small 200mm diameter circular coir matts increase ground soil moisture greatly.
Q. If no site mulch available, should we allow to import for any particular areas?
A. Yes, dependant on the landholder’s discretion – this can be planned later after tender has been sent.
Q. If there is mulch to be allowed for, should we also be allowing for coir netting to keep the mulch in place?
A. This bottom 3rd of the site has coir matting already. Other than small coir 200mm circular matts of equivalent, I don’t see a need for coir netting. Could be discussed after the awarding of the tender however. Realise mulching and coiring the area would add a large cost, however in our experience it is always worth it in the long run with reduced maintenance and watering requirements
Q. If there is to be no coiring/mulching, would we be able to look at individual tree mats/mulch rings or options similar to this?
A. Definitely – just add that to your quote as an extra. Make sure that we can get a sum of your quote without the extras (for fair comparison to other tenderers).
Q. Erosion control – If there was to be no mulch or coir, what would the expectations be around erosion control? The docs have a few things listed but it is difficult to cost out in an individual line item
A. Erosion control – includes small rill/early gully erosion prevention and rehab. An example might be filling a 20-100cm deep rill/gully with topsoil and/or spare rock, adding coir/gravel/rock to erosion prone locations, reseeding and replanting trees after soil/gravel/coir. This is all within reason so quote for a potential 1-2 days labour of small erosion fixes (this could include a bobcat etc). Please note that there is a gravel/rock quarry on site and in small erosion infill, this will be accessible at no cost to the reveg crew, as long as FBA and landholder are notified first.
Q. Watering – is there any possibility to draw water from the river itself?
A. Yes, there is a rocked track to the waters edge great for drawing water.
Q. Has the watering and irrigation concept been designed with the seeding in mind as well ? If not, considering the relatively wide spacing of plants, a dripper system for the irrigation seems a bit over the top – would imagine there would be a lot of areas without plants being watered. If the seeding needs to be considered, would a sprinkler irrigation system be acceptable?
A. It will be a sprinkler irrigation system ideally. However, irrigation tender is occurring at the same time. So, during the next site visit we will collectively agree on what irrigation setup will suite the site best (depending of pump requirements and expected price limitations etc.)
Q. If no coir/mulch in place, would aqua spearing be considered? Slightly higher install price per tube but would require minimal watering post installation and negate the need for an irrigation system
A. Can put an additional quote for aqua spearing, although I have not had much to do with this. I envision we will be using sprinkler irrigation for this site. This may be a conversation to be had for our more rural sites with limited water access.
Q. Maintenance – There is mention within the documentation of maintenance periods varying from 6 months up to 7 years, however in the BOQ only the 12 week establishment. Would you like a cost for any additional maintenance or just the establishment for the moment?
A. There is the establishment maintenance for the first 12 weeks (this includes higher watering rates). Then there is the main ‘revegetation’ maintenance, which goes for another 12 weeks. This should end just before June 30. Please cost for a total of 24 months maintenance.
