How FBA is Helping Graziers Grow Stronger Through GRASS
Posted on June 30th, 2025
From 2024-2025 FBA engaged 63 landholders, completed 37 Land Management Plans and completed 23 projects resulting in 188,580 hectares of managed land through the Grazing Resilience and Sustainable Solutions Program (GRASS) program alone.

Through the GRASS program, FBA helps graziers develop and implement tailored action plans for land management aimed at increasing productivity, improving ground cover, and reducing soil loss to protect the Great Barrier Reef.
FBA provides one-on-one support from experienced extension officers which allows graziers to receive property assessments, identify land condition (A–D), and access the tools, strategies, and industry best practices needed to achieve their land management goals.
Graziers working with FBA benefit from access to tools, resources, and local knowledge, as well as the opportunity to apply for incentive funding to carry out on-ground improvements like fencing, erosion control, and water infrastructure.
By implementing good land management, graziers can benefit through productivity gains, business resilience and improved environmental outcomes.
FBA’s Agricultural Leader, Reece Brookes, says the GRASS project is an effective way for landholders to start learning and applying best practice land management techniques.
“GRASS has opened up some fantastic opportunities for our team over the years to get out on the ground and work closely with a range of land managers to find solutions that work for them, their goals and their property,” Reece said.

“It’s inspiring seeing landholders gain the confidence and knowledge to keep making positive changes on their own after they work with us – that’s where the true impact lies.”
Land Management Officer, Kate Woolley, says one of the biggest challenges landholders face is knowing how or where to begin.

“For many, GRASS is that starting point. It helps create meaningful connections not just with our team, but with experts across the region. It gives people the confidence that they’re on the right path from the very beginning,” Kate said.
Below are some of the latest GRASS case studies. These outline what regional land managers have achieved on their land.
