Smarter Investment in Wastewater and Water Forum
Smater and wastewater management are critical to local communities and the environment, including the Great Barrier Reef and Moreton Bay. Local governments, water infrastructure companies and urban utilities are responsible for designing and operating water and wastewater facilities, but responsibility for managing the environmental sustainability aspects is shared with the Queensland Government.
Limited local government resources and the impacts of COVID19 on available funds for all levels of government mean that it is essential to ‘get smarter’ about the way in which investment in water and wastewater management is done.
Why should you register?
This critical forum provides a valuable opportunity for water and wastewater managers and relevant State Government agencies to share learnings from programs and approaches already in place.
The main themes are capacity building opportunities (including training and decision support system development) and taking a whole of catchment management approach (including reuse scheme return on investment options and point source offset wastewater management solutions).
An expert panel
The half-day forum is an interactive session, where participants are invited to pose questions for discussion to an expert panel consisting of cross-departmental Queensland Government staff and representatives from qldwater and LGAQ.
There will also be key on-line polling questions linked to the main forum themes that participants can vote on to drive panel discussion. The outcomes of the discussions will help the Queensland Government shape future policy and potential funding decisions with respect to providing tailored support to water and wastewater management agencies.
