Beach Nesting Birds Workshop
BirdLife Australia is expanding its Beach Nesting Birds project into Queensland and will be hosting a workshop on Saturday 26th February from 8am to midday at the Community Centre in Yeppoon.
This pilot program aims to recruit and engage citizen scientists to help monitor the distribution of beach nesting birds in our region. There will be a focus on Beach Stone-curlews as a flagship species.
The workshop will be presented by Simon Kennedy, Great Barrier Reef Wetlands Bird Monitoring Project Coordinator and Dr Grainne Maguire, Coast and Wetland Bird Program Leader. The workshop will run for approximately two hours followed by a trip to Farnborough Beach to survey for the Beach Stone-curlew and check out the Red-capped Plover nesting area.
If you are interested in local beach nesting birds and would like to participate in collecting and recording data and the general conservation of beach-nesting birds, make sure you get along to this workshop.
